SCSO in the
community

The Sioux City Symphony Orchestra is reaching new diverse audiences in unexpected ways, from collaborating with community service and educational organizations to reinventing the entire concert experience by advancements in technology.

Through the power of music, collaboration, and collective action, we serve the public and our communities in many ways. Just as the needs of communities differ greatly from those of another, we focus on developing programs, partnerships, and performances that provide unique value to the people that surround us.

Study after study shows that exposure and involvement in music improve students' success in school, work, and life. Whether as a pre-schooler or senior, participating in music fosters discipline and teamwork, as well as individual skill and expression.

Regardless of socioeconomic status or school district, students who participate in high-quality music programs score higher on reading and spelling tests.

Students in high-quality school music education programs score higher on standardized tests than students in schools with deficient music education programs, regardless of the community's socioeconomic level.

The Sioux City Symphony Orchestra is a magnet for business, investment, and tourism and hopes to help bring together our neighborhoods and heal the communities we serve, especially during adversity.
