Andrew Travers grew up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and studied music first from under the grand piano in the family home, the home stereo, and finally through the cello after hearing the instrument play the two note opening of John Williams’ Jaws movie score at a 5th grade orchestra demonstration. Following a transformative summer at Interlochen Arts Camp in 1997, he earned dual bachelor's degrees from the University of Connecticut in Arts: Music, and Education in 2002, studying cello with Mary Lou Rylands; and in 2010 his Masters of Music Education from Boston University. Mr. T., as students know him, taught both in public school orchestra programs, and through his private cello studio for the last 20 years. He also performed in Las Vegas, Sioux Falls, and Sioux City with Disney’s Lion King, the Las Vegas Philharmonic, the South Dakota Symphony, and the Sioux City Symphony Orchestras. Andrew continues to teach, perform, and grow in Sioux Falls with his wife Maria, and two sons, Liam and Lysander.
