Carl Hallstrom, Trombone, was raised in the Midwest and graduated from Madison (SD) High School. Mr. Hallstrom completed his undergraduate studies BA in Applied Music Performance with Dr. Harold Krueger and Dr. Leland Lillehaug, with a double major in Business Administration at Augustana College SD. Military service with the United States Air Force Band provided tour opportunities in Southern California with the 15th Air Force Band and an extended tour of Europe with the USAFE Ambassadors (Glenn Miller Band). Graduate study MM in Trombone Performance was completed with Dr. Harold Pope at the University of South Dakota. Following graduate school, Mr. Hallstrom spent a season with the Midland Odessa Symphony TX and 33 seasons as Assistant Principal Trombone with the South Dakota Symphony.
During the summer months Mr. Hallstrom serves as Principal Trombone and Trombone/Euphonium soloist with the Sioux Falls Municipal Band. Other performances include recent Schmeckfest musicals, the Sioux Falls Big Band, the Dalesburg Cornet Band, and many churches in the region. Mr. Hallstrom is recently retired from serving the membership of Voyage Federal Credit Union as a Financial Service Specialist.
