VIOLIN

I became a member of the Sioux City Symphony in1970, which was my junior year of high school and, with the exception of a few years when I lived out of state, I have played in the orchestra.  I've always felt honored and blessed that Dr. Leo Kucinski allowed me to audition on the recommendation of my teacher, Jayne Marie Burnight, and accepted me into the orchestra at that young age. I was born and raised in Sioux City and was fortunate to have awesome music teachers in the public school system - Whittier Elementary, Hayworth Junior High and East High. I attended Morningside College and Murray State University (KY). I am a proud mama of three children (one deceased) and their spouses, and an equally proud grandma to seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  I have retired from my full-time job but continue to serve as minister of music at St. Mark Lutheran here in Sioux City. Depending on how years of service are counted, I believe I am closing in on 50 years with the Symphony and I look forward to the upcoming 2024-2025 season and any further seasons I am lucky enough to play!
