Kristin Ortmann plays in the violin section. This is her 20th season with the symphony. She is originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan. She graduated from Hope College in Holland, Michigan with her Bachelor's degree in Music Education. She moved to Sioux City to take a job in the Sioux City School District teaching 4th through 12th grade orchestra on the West side. She teaches at West Middle and West High as well as many of the feeder elementary schools. She recently has taken charge of the Sioux City Symphony Youth Orchestra Sinfonia group as the teacher/conductor of that group. She enjoys cooking and baking in her spare time.
