Originally from China, Liya Ma has performed with several professional orchestras and ensembles regularly, including a regular member position with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the Principal Second Violin position with the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra, as well as Peoria, Illinois Symphony Orchestra, and Oistrakh Symphony of Chicago in the Midwest, Alexandria and Fairfax Symphony Orchestras in the DMV area, and the American Youth Symphony in Los Angeles. Liya’s major music festival experience includes attending Mendocino Music Festival as an Emerging Artist, Atlantic Music Festival as a Contemporary Ensemble Fellow, Youth Music Culture Guangdong, collaborating and performing with Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble, and the PRISMA festival in Canada.
