Multifaceted performer-creator Lucas Blekeberg explores music traditions and innovates around them. As a violist, violinist, fiddler, mandolinist, rhythm keyboardist, singer-songwriter, composer, improviser, and teacher, he has worked across Denmark, Canada, and the United States. Having performed in chamber ensembles with principal players of major orchestras; played with the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra and Danish National Symphony Orchestra; and recorded for an album receiving a Polaris Music Prize and Juno Award, he returned to the Midwest in 2023, where he works as a multi-genre collaborator with chamber ensembles, orchestras, folk bands, and as a solo artist; and, as of July 2024, as Principal Violist of Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra; Associate Principal Violist of Sioux City Symphony Orchestra; and Section Violist with Des Moines Symphony.
