A retired band director, Michael Andersen has maintained a multi-faceted career as a brass player, bassist, and teacher. Along with the Sioux City Symphony, Michael is the Principal Tuba with the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra. He has performed with symphonies, big bands, small jazz combos, vocalists, musicals, and concert bands throughout the South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa area. As a brass player, Mike has played with and accompanied musicians such as Chuck Magione, Ray Charles, The Moody Blues, and has been featured soloist with numerous area concert bands. As a bass player, Michael continues to be active in the jazz scene in Sioux Falls as well as the Iowa Great Lakes in Okoboji. He maintains a private brass/bass guitar studio in the Sioux Falls area, and is adjunct Tuba Instructor at Augustana University in Sioux Falls.
